BNI - NJ Central & NW was founded in Spring of 1999, the BNI - PA Poconos
region in Fall of 2002, by Mark Carmody, a BNI member in Massachusetts
who decided to make BNI his business. Mark chose to develop the Central &
NW section of New Jersey; one of the few regions available in the
Northeastern U.S. at that time. Originally from New Jersey, Mark saw what a
great opportunity it would be to work there.
Mark is now partnering with Nick Zolfo and Steve Gambino to bring more
BNI to Central Pennsylvania.
While Mark hopes that the members in the region work hard and benefit
significantly from BNI, he realizes that most members won't be quite as
fortunate as him - his wife, Toni, was a BNI referral. BNI has been
responsible for his marriage, his children (twin seven-year-old boys), and some
of his closest friends.
Mark is also active in the National BNI organization. He serves as a District
Director, helping other BNI Directors in the Mid-Atlantic states improve their
businesses. He also serves on the International Franchise Advisory Board, the
'membership committee' for BNI Directors.
Mark is still doing business with, and referring, some of the members in the
chapter he left eight years ago!
Today the BNI NJ/PA region has over 1500 members with a steady focus on:

... being ready to work with those who need and want help.
We are particularly proud of our high chapter average (an indicator of
members receiving more value and a healthier region).
Our goal is to have 200 chapters of an average of 33 members who work
hard to make word-of-mouth-marketing and BNI their focus of business
development.
